Polishing Exhaust Tips To Perfection
A gleaming exhaust tip is the perfect finishing touch to any detail, but before diving in with the polish, make sure to decontaminate like a pro using Iron Out.
Polishing your exhaust tips is often one of the final steps in your detail, but decontamination should be done earlier, during the pre-wash stage. Start with a pressure washer rinse to remove any loose dirt and grime.
To tackle tough exhaust gas contamination, use Iron Out Fallout Remover to chemically dissolve it. Simply spray a generous amount over the entire exhaust tip.
Allow Iron Out to sit for 2-3 minutes to break down the grime and dissolve metal particles. You'll notice it turning blood red as the chemical reaction occurs.
Rinse thoroughly to wash away the contaminants. This helps minimize the risk of grinding dirt into the surface when you apply Mercury Metal Polish later.
Once you've finished washing, drying, and protecting the rest of the car, apply a small amount of Mercury Metal Polish to a microfibre cloth or foam applicator. Remember, a little goes a long way.
Gently work the polish into the metal, focusing especially on the tip. Mercury Metal Polish contains fine abrasives that help remove a thin layer of the metal surface, eliminating stains and revealing a fresh, clean finish.
Once you've polished the entire tip—don’t forget the underside, even though it's not always visible—wipe away any excess polish and buff to a shine with a clean microfibre cloth. This ensures a more even finish and helps prevent future contamination buildup.
