Tuning World Messe Friedrichshafen 2024
The biggest aftermarket tuning show here in Europe is Tuning World Bodensee, it also happens to be the next stop for us, right after XS CarNight, and it has to be said that this one is always a monster!
Dedicated solely to the tuning and modifying industry, you could call Tuning World the European equivalent of SEMA. It takes over the whole of the Messe Friedrichshafen in Southern Germany for 4 days and, once again, we were there to check out all the action.
This year we had a bigger display than ever before. We rolled in our AirStream trailer and T2 VW Bus pop up stores for the event, both loaded to the top with a full range of our best detailing products, hot off the HGV from our European Distribution Centre near the Nurburgring. Our Pandem Yaris GR, and our V3 Mk1 VW Caddy Truck were also on display around the show, so we had quite the amazing setup for this one.
One of the main highlights for us though, was being invited to show off our 1954 Chevy Pickup build in the coveted European Tuner Showdown competition. So, as you can imagine, there was plenty of work to do when it came to preparing the cars and setting up our huge space in the trade area. But, then again, that’s the sort of challenge we relish here at TeamAF Europe…
When we said that Bodensee is huge we meant it. In fact, there’s over 1500 tuner cars on display at the event and these are not only the best in Europe, but the best modified cars on the planet. Quite obviously, what with the show being in Germany, most of the top cars we’re German, or at least European… but there were a few extra surprises on the import front, too. So, with that in mind there’s plenty to see over the 4-days and while we’d love to show you absolutely everything we liked here in Germany, we just don’t have the room!
What we can do though, is bring you and extra special gallery of our favourite cars and all the other goings on at Tuning World. Just take a look at this lot…
And as for our Chevy entering the European Tuning Showdown? We actually won!
Now, it has to be said that we love our 1954 Stepside Pickup, but we were still a little surprised to win 1st place, this competition is about the very best that Europe has to offer after all. It’s not only makes us very proud, but most importantly it shows a lot of acknowledgement for everyone who has been involved in the evolution of the most famous vehicle on the AF fleet.
This truck was first built in 2019 to celebrate our 20th Birthday. But after attending a whole load of events around the UK and Europe, we rolled it back in for a 2-year-long bare shell rebuild, a new paintjob and a whole host of extra details. In fact, we only finished it at the very end of last year. This project was a long term dream of ours and we actually put it together for the TeamAF family, rather than to compete. So, why we’re extra pleased to have won, all the prize money that comes with the European Tuner Showdown has been donated to a local children’s charity.
